LOWER BACK

Our modern lifestyle is frequently the culprit in back pain. Long hours of sitting at work, home, or in cars can lead to an imbalance between muscles that are weak and those that are chronically contracted. On top of that, tension and fatigue in back muscles are often aggravated by the stress and strain of a busy demanding life. Tight, weak or tired back muscles are vulnerable to injury anytime you overdo it, for example in the yard or at the gym.

Small joints on the back of your of your spinal bones are a common cause of back pain. If these joints are not moving right, they can cause much pain.

The discs (“shock absorbers”) between spinal bones can also produce back pain. Trauma, and other activities like lifting, can cause these discs to bulge, and press on adjacent nerves.

TREATMENT OPTIONS

Once you know the cause, you have several choices. One approach is bed rest; however prolonged bed rest can actually delay recovery and make the problem worse. Physical therapy is another option. But exercising spinal joints that aren’t working right is like continuing to drive your care with misaligned tires.

Another is to numb or cover up the pain with drugs. While this offers temporary relief, they can’t correct the functional problems of your spine. The most drastic measure is surgery. Some surgery cuts out your bone, leaving your spinal cord exposed! Others claim to remove offending soft tissues, however,

MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE CHOOSING CHIROPRACTIC

More people are choosing chiropractic as their first treatment option. Specific chiropractic adjustments can help improve spinal function. Best of all, it is safe and natural. And chiropractic looks to correct the underlying cause of the problem.

DOES IT HURT?

Not only is chiropractic gentle, it is completely natural, being drug and surgery free. Through gentle hands-on techniques, chiropractors make 'adjustments' to your spine. You will be surprised at how good adjustments can make you feel.

CAN CHIROPRACTIC TREAT ANY OTHER PROBLEMS EXCEPT BACK PROBLEMS?

The doctor of chiropractic is an effective source of preventative and wellness care. Although the perception of Chiropractors as just "back doctors" is not entirely incorrect, it is very much incomplete. Doctors of chiropractic are a highly appropriate resource in matters of work-place safety, stress management, injury prevention, postural correction and nutritional counseling.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

Some patients experience almost instant relief. Others discover it can take many weeks or months.  Many factors affect the healing process. How long have you had your problem?  Do you keep your appointments? Are you getting proper rest, exercise and nutrition? Are you in otherwise good health?
